중국 정부에서 진행하는 프로젝트가 미얀마 남부 쪽에 있는 Dawei 원유 정제소를 건립 계약 체결이 되었다. 미얀마 투자 위원회는 중국 공기업, Guangdong Zhenrong Energy’s Project와 계약 체결을 했으며 정제소 완공이 되면 하루 100,000배럴의 원유를 정제할 수 있게 된다. 장기적으로는 정제된 연료 수입 의존도를 줄일 수 있겠지만 단기적으로 국내에 연료 체취 량이 증가하여야 할 것이다. 이 프로젝트에는 30%가량의 미얀마 현지 기업도 참여를 하고 있다. 참여한 현지 기업은 Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited(UMEHL), Myanmar Petrochemical Corp, Yangon Engineering Group이다. 특히 Yangon Engineering Group은 Htoo그룹을 소유하고 있는 Mr. Tay Za(떼자)가 운영하고 있는 걸로 알려져 있다.
